What Causes Red Tint To The Ear Drainage?

My son is 4 and has tubes in his ears. He has had drainage and discomfort all week. We have been giving him antibiotic drops twice a day. Today he has a red tint to the drainage, should I be concerned? We just got an oral antibiotic from the doctor today

Hello and welcome to health care magic,

The red tint to the discharge may be either due to blood or plasma or just serum. In any of these case since you have already started antibiotics you have nothing to worry about. If however the discharge persists and increases then you must consult your ENT doctor as soon as possible.
Do not give head bath and do not allow any water to enter the ears
Do not put any drops in the ear unless advised by your doctor
Do not try to meddle or clean the ears

Hope this helps

regards
