I have sores on my shin bone that I am not sure where or how I got them. It has taken about 3 months for them to heal up, and during that time there was infection and scabbing. I have treated them by keeping it clean, and topical antibiotics. The sores have healed but there is red scaring, and pain in my legs. I am suffering from arthitis in my knees, and also have numbness in my feet. Not sure if this is something that could be a symptom of other problems or conditions?
Hello and welcome to HCM From your history of arthritis, the ulcers or sores maybe related to the same. It may also be an effect of meds taken for the arthritis, or any new medications you have started. Is is necessary to rule out conditions affecting the blood vessels of your legs along with the arthritis, like vasculitic sores. Are they very painful, or are they more itchy with pus and discharge. Since the sores have healed, I would advise you to check with a dermatologist or get a scan to check the blood flow of your legs and also advise a biopsy of any new sores to get diagnosis as vasculitic sores maybe recurrent with severe scars and pain and need different treatment. This can also cause the numbness. Routine blood tests and immune panel may also be needed. Hope this helps.
