What Causes Red Patch On Roof Of Mouth?

Hello. I have a red patch in the roof of my mouth. This is the second time that this has happened on the last thirty days. The first time it simply went away. I have had sinus drainage that has irritated my throat. I have been to the doctor and the dentist for an oral cancer screening. As I understand it oral cancer ulcers don't go away with out treatment, this red spot had come and gone. What could it be??

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain a red patch over the roof of the mouth that come and go along with sinus drainage that led to throat irritation or infection is the most probable cause for inflammation of the roof of the mouth..
As the infection can lead to inflammation of throat and can also cause inflammation of roof of the mouth..
The symptoms no where simulate cancer symptoms so you need not worry about it..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can advise you proper course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, decongestants, mucolytics and also steam inhalations, warm saline gargles and nasal decongestants for relief from the symptoms..
In case if the patch is still present and irritates you, you can apply a numbing gel containing Lignocaine over it, take Ibuprofen for relieving pain and do warm saline gargles..
Take a soft diet and avoid spicy and hot foods..
Drink plenty of water..
