What Causes Red Oval Rashes Around Trunk Area With Pityriasis Rosea?

I have been diagnosed with pityriasis rosea. I have had a herald patch for three weeks one week ago the rash consisting of small red ovals began to break out around my trunk area. Today it appears as though my herald patch is healing. However, the additional small red oval rashes on my trunk are still in place. Can I expect the rest of the rash to diminish soon as well or is it normal for the Herald patch to disappear first?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history of pityriasis rosea.
My treatment advice is -
1. It is a self limiting disease. So don't worry.
2. All lesions including herald patch will subside in 4-6 weeks.
3. There is no specific chronology in remission. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily.
4. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine if itching occurs.

Thanks.
