Hi I've had a red mark on the tip of my tounge for over two months now it first felt like a burn but I can not think as to what I could of Burnd it on. Now it has swollen 'taste buds' some are very sore if there touched I also have had white spots on my tounge but they've gone now I have an ulcer behind my bottom lip that's been there for 5 days now also sometimes you can see the teeth imprints on the edge of my tounge. I went to doctors 5 days ago and all she gave me was some pain relief spray (she didn't even bother looking in my mouth ) and they spray seems to have irritated my mouth more It hurts if I eat anything spicey even mild spice hurts it also brushing my teeth hurts it as well never mind mouthwash unless it's a mild flavour, just wondering what it is as it's not getting any better. Thank you
Understanding your concern. As per your query red marks on the tip of tongue is due to micronutrient deficiency. Sometimes due to vitamin deficiency cuts and sore mouth occur the condition is known as chelitis , which further leads to occurrence of fungal infection and make things complicated. Due to deficiency aphthous stomatitis can also occur. I would suggest you to take multivitamin supplements for at least 15 days , specially vitamin B complex. Apply lidocaine gel on the sores to relieve pain. Do betadine rinses twice a day. Do hydrogen peroxide rinses mix with equal amount of water 1-2 times a day , which is extremely good for cuts. Also adding probiotics to your diet like yoghurt would help.
If condition persist after one week then consult oral pathologist for proper diagnosis and to rule out condition like oral herpes.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
