What Causes Red Circles In My Pubic Area?

I have white circles with red on the outside edges in different spots in my pubic region (male). I have not had unprotected sex, but I had just purchased a new razor/trimmer, and had clean shaven my pubes a day or two before outbreak. I only shaved the area where the irritation was. It is raised white rings around the hair, and drained what seems to be pus for a little bit. I hope it is not an std such as herpes, since it looks nothing like the photos I ve seen online, howver I m very concerned. It has been four to five days, and although pain is slightly less, I can t notice any significant change for the better

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

I have gone through your query and I have understood it.

These are folliculitis.

Follculitis is bacterial infection of the hair follicles often associated with surrounding redness. The infection gaining entry through the hair follicle.

If I was the treating doctor I would have suggested an oral antibiotic for a week.

My choice of oral antibiotic would have been either:

Amoxycillin 500mg in combination with clavulanic acid 125 mg, thrice daily for a week

OR

Cephalexin 500 mg thrice daily for a week

OR

Cefadroxil 500 mg twice daily for a week.

An OTC topical antibacterial e.g 2% Mupirocin, to be applied, twice daily.

Hope this helps
