What Causes Red Blotches On The Arms?

I developed a rash (red splotches) beginning on my arms, one or two at a time, after my doctor increased my potassium dosage from one potassium CL ER 10 meq ta, to two, and finally three tables a day. This began about a week or so after I began taking 3 tablets daily. Could the rash be from too much potassium? She has since lowered my dosage back to 2 tablets daily but I am still getting the red splotches and they itch quite a lot.

Hi.
As per your case history you are having allergic dermatitis. It is not related to potassium.
My treatment advice is -
1. Avoid using any new products like soap or perfume.
2. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like mometasone cream on the lesions twice daily.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral steroid like prednisone or betamethasone taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
