General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to HCM.
I understand ur concern see severe pain is possible in both the conditions either he broke it or its infected. Red line is a line of inflammation.
If he has injured it and its highly swollen than probability of fracture is much more.
I advise u to go for a xray of affected part asap and that will rule out the fracture.
Start a good antibiotic like cefixime or amoxicillin clavulinic acid.
Along with this start diclofenac plus trypsin and serratio peptidase combination.
If swelling continues to increase or if he suffers from fever that treat it on urgent basis.
Thanks
Hope I answered ur queries.
