As per your complain swollen, red, hard, & painful sore on his hip that is getting bigger and worsening and has a scab in the centre seems to be an ulcer that has occurred due to causes like infected gland in the area, infection of hair follicles, infection and bacterial accumulation under the skin leading to painful eruption over it.. I would suggest you to consult a Proctologist or a General Surgeon and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation done.. He can also advise a swab culture for confirmation.. He can advise you a course of antibiotics like Sulphamethoxazole and Trimethoprim and anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.. Topical application of antibiotic and steroid ointment can also be advised.. Clean the area with betadine solution.. Avoid moisture accumulation for faster resolution.. Hope this information helps..
