What Causes Recurring Swollen Taste Buds In A Child?

My 7 year old daughter recently started having multiple swollen taste buds at the same time. They have come and gone for about a month. It doesn't seem to be related to spicey foods, as she had macaroni and cheese for dinner and woke up with them in the morning. Any idea what it could be and how to treat?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain recurring swelling of taste buds is due to Transient Lingual Pappilitis which is not related to spicy foods can occur due to causes like vitamin deficiency, allergic reaction to any food or medication, oral infection like thrush etc...

Treatment of this case will depend upon the cause and treating the underlying cause will resolve the symptoms..
Consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..

As of now you can make her do warm saline gargles.
Taking Vitamin B complex can help..
Apply baking soda over the swollen taste buds.
Doing cool water rinses or sucking ice pops can help..
Avoid spicy foods and drink plenty of water..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
