What Causes Recurring Strep Throat?

Hello, 31 y/o female with 3 postitive rapid strep tests in past 2 1/2 months. Got latest batch lastnight and saw Dr. this morning who prescribed another antibiotic. Only the right tonsil is painfull swollen, adn has puss pockets all over. Left tonsil has what looks like a very smooth yellowish tonsil stone on it, not swollen. After last round of anti-b's, symptoms/pain went away, but left tonsil still looked deformed. What else could this be. No fever this time either.

dear user

about your question i would like to tell you that these symptoms you mentioned refer mainly to have throat infection bacterial or viral.....in your case you have streptococcal infection........if you have stress or anxiety it causes impairment of immunity and recurrent infection........also incomplete course of treatment causes recurrent infection.. ..... you can take tylenol as it will help alot to improve .......you should also drink alot of warm fluids that helps also....you should also have bed rest and no effort that makes you tired .....you can gargle your throat with saline solution it helps to decontaminate your throat ......you can use chlorohexidine or betadine mouth gargle as it is considered antiseptic for throat..... we require blood test or throat swab if symptoms get severe or recurrent infection but now you not need that.......if prolonged or recurrent occur you can do antibiotic sensitivity test as selection of antibiotic according to sensitivity has great role in strept infection because the bacteria may resist antibiotics...........wish you healthy life
