Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Recurring Spasms And Bruises On Body Of An Underweight Teenager?
Yes, my granddaughter is 16 years old and is very small , she weighs 105 lbs and is 5foot 4 and has a lot of what the doctors have decided is muscular skeletal pain and now is having bruises appear where she is having the spasms, what I would like to know is this normal?
She is underweight and probably malnutritioned which could be the reason why she has been developing the muscular pain and also bruises as nutritional deficiencies can easily result in such a presentation. I would suggest consultation with a psychiatrist to rule out eating disorders and help encourage her to eat better for better health.
Best wishes.
