What Causes Recurring Headaches With History Of Pituitary Tumor?

My father has a pituitary tumor he s had for 25 years now. He takes bromicriptine 5mg and it has been under control. He also takes prednisone. For about a year now he gets a bad headache about the same time every day so his doctor said he could take another bromicriptine when the headache comes on. It seems to take the headache away most days, but not always. His prolactin levels are normal. Any idea what could be causing the headaches?

Welcome to healthcaremagic.com. Unfortunately reading this I have to say that the tumor has grown unless imaging tells otherwise, I am not sure when he last had an MRI. I am not sure why he feels better after taking the bromocriptine, in any event I think that he may need further investigation based on the change in headaches. Is he been seen by an endocrinologist? If not maybe that is a good idea to get a consultation and further recommendations. I hope this answers your question. Good luck.
