What Causes Recurring Cough And Fever?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here..My daughter has had a dry barking cough for 3 weeks along with ear infection and sinus infection. She was treated with 2 types of antibiotics (the last was zithromax for the ear infection. Chest x-ray shows mild bronchitus. Cough went away for a few days after completing the zithromax. Now the cough and fever are both back in full swing. I am at a loss about what is causing this and what to do for her. Any suggestions?

Hello.

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your daughter's history and would like to know more information about her like - What is her age? Does she have such complaints from early childhood? How severe is her fever? What are her symptoms? Does any one from her family have allergies?

From above details, I would be able to help you more.

From your given information, I would like to make suggestions for her as follows:

1. Were I treating her, I would suggest her daily montelukast and levocetirizine for at least 7-14 days.

2. If she is old enough, I would suggest her regular steam inhalation which will help both sinus and ear symptoms.

3. If she has repeated complaints, I would suggest her allergy testing which will help her identifying the substances she may be allergic to and also to know the measures to avoid them.

4. If she has breathing problems/wheezing, I would suggest her to use salbutamol/levosalbutamol inhaler for symptom relief.

5. In general, I would suggest her to avoid exposure to dusts, smokes and air pollution as much as possible.

6. You can use paracetamol for fever.

Hope above information and suggestions will be helpful to you.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Wish her the best of the health.

Thank you & Regards.
