What Causes Recurring Bruises?

I have always bruised very easily. I am a generally healthy 59 yr old female and have had this problem all my life. Is there anything lacking in my diet to cause this? I have asked my family doc over the years if I should be concerned? He has always said no , just seeking another opinion. Thanks, C.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Easy bruising can occur due to disorders of platelets, coagulation factors or disorder of vessel wall.
Thus, basic investigations pertaining to platelets and coagulation system will help to determine the probable cause of bleeding.
I suggest you to get some investigations- bleeding time, clotting, platelet count, prothrombin time, INR, activated partial thromboplastin time and thrombin time.
If all these parameters are within normal range then vessel wall disorder is the most probable cause.
I suggest you to consult your physician for clinical assessment and prescription of all these investigations and thus management.

Thanks and take care
