As per your complain the symptoms seems most commonly due to infection while if the infection is not diagnosed the other most common cause can be acid reflux or laryngopharyngeal reflux or silent reflux.. As the pain in throat has now subsided it seems to be recovering and the tonsils may take a comparatively longer time to resolve and regress in size..As of now do warm saline gargles and steam inhalations. But in case if the swelling shows no signs of resolution consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like upper G.I Endoscopy can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
