What Causes Recurrent Fever, Fatigue And Pain In Arms And Legs?

My 26 year old daughter was diagnosed with Mono Nov 30,2015 . She continued to work and really did not take time off of work even though she was extremely fatigue and started running fever and having soreness in legs and arms. By December she was still running high fever and sleeping every chance she got instead of eating. She continued to work and was probably exhausting herself. By the end of December she had lost 20 pounds and the pains in legs ,arms and fever persisted. We have been to Infectious disease dr. who did lab work which was negative . She sent her to Autoimmune dr.and everything was negative . She has had a liver biopsy cause her liver and spleen are enlarged and they aren t sure why since they don t feel she has mono anymore. She has had CT Scans of Abdomen, chest and pelvis. She has enlarged lymph glands in neck and under arms . She had a Bone Marrow and lymph node biopsy which was negative for cancer. She has A Vitamin D deficiency and anemic.I have started her on some vitamins ,iron, and making sure she is eating now.She was put on Prednisone which helps some the fever which isn t everyday now 102. It stays most days below 100.We are at wits end and don t know where to go from here. She still has spikes of high temp and has persistent pain in legs and arms and has trouble getting in tub due to the pain. Should we go back to a infectious disease dr or a neurologist. I feel like she may have a complication from the Epstein Barr Virus. They want to have the neuro check her muscles.Any thoughts?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of recurrent fever, fatigue and pain in arms and legs . The symptoms can occur due to viral infection .

I would suggest you to take anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen to prevent fever and body-ache. Drink plenty of fluids, have proper rest. You should take muscle relaxant as well. Do warm saline gargles.

Take analgesic and take light diet. Your symptoms will resolve in 3-4 days. If symptoms keeps on persisting visit general physician once and get it examined and start treatment after proper examination and prescription.

Go for blood tests as well. You should do warm saline gargles on daily basis. Avoid cold carbonated liquids. Doctor may prescribe antiviral drugs .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
