What Causes Recurrent Cold And Cough In An Infant?

Hi. My son is 2 yrs 4mnths and he catches wet cough and cold every month. It takes 10-12 days to go with the help of cough syrup and duolin nebulizer twice to three times a day. My questions are: The doc says he has allergic cough, so could a allergy test help? If giving duolin nebulizer 2-3 times safe? Could there be any deficiency that he is catching it so frequently? What precautions can I take? How to build his immunity?
