What Causes Rectal Itching In A Person With Acid Reflux?

I have what I ve been told is a (rectal) skin tag - [which I had thought was a hemorrhoid and which I have had for years] - but which is now causing an uncomfortable amount of anal itching - [which has become almost all the time now - I have been using different items such as Zinc Oxide cream, Anusol, Hydrocortisone, Noxzema, Peneten none of which seem to have had any effect. When I mentioned it again to my doctor, she asked if I d ever seen a G.I. doctor - which I hadn t - She made an appointment for me and I met with the G.I. doctor - who didn t examine me but told me to get Corn Starch flour and cotton balls - which haven t helped. She, however suggested that I have a colonoscopy . I am a retired female over 70 years of age. I have always been very particular about cleansing with moisturizing cream after a bowel movement. I am feeling quite apprehensive about this procedure given the fact of this skin tag, which can bleed occasionally as I sometimes can t control the urge to scratch. This doctor has told me not to use any moisturizing creams, etc. or any scented products and to just use warm water. I should mention that I have Acid Reflux [LPR] and wonder if this could have any bearing on the rectal itching as I am assuming that the acid will is being excreted through the colon. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank You. My email address is YYYY@YYYY

Hi ! I had gone through your question and I understand your concern.

Acid is not the cause of your itching , it does not goes through your hemorrhoid.
Itching is due to the blood clots inside hemorhoid.
When a patient like you come to ask for these 2 condition Acid reflux and Hemorrhoid I would say that the only conection of these 2 are the the food you consume that worsen The disease such as
Spicey food , fried food , alcohol,.
Both disease effect specific parts in the digestive system.
I would give you some advice while you are waiting for your examination .
- Be carefull of constipation : Avoid food with low fiber (white bread ,white rice , white pasta ) , tea , alcohol, coffr , fatty food (less butter , no fries cookes) ,avoid spicey food , sitting for a long time

- Drink a lot of fluid(at least 8 glasses of water daily) , do some exscercise , eat food with full of fiber :while grain bread, fruit and vegetables
( beans,kiwi , sweet potatoes , nuts and seeds , pears ,plimbs , Apple's, barrries, broccoli ..)
It's important to follow the advices that your treating doctor told you , have warm water bath will help you symptoms, and doing colonoscopy to exclude other conditions .

Hope these will help.
