What Causes Rashes On Buttock, Lower Back And Inner Thigh?

My 3 year old has a rash on her buttocks, lower back, and inner thighs. The rash looks like small red pimples that cause itching. She wears a pull up at night but panties during the day. She is wheat intolerant and follows a gluten free diet. What could be the cause of these bumps and do I need to take her in to her pediatrician? Thank you.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

I would keep a possibility of Diaper dermatitis OR Candidal intertrigo.

I would advice that you see a dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis. While diaper dermatitis can present with skin rashes but spares the folds/groin folds, Candidal intertrigo involves the folds along with the surrounding skin as well.

In any case keeping the area air dry would help in recovery.

If I was the treating doctor I would have asked you to apply a topical mild to moderately potent steroid+antifungal combination cream twice daily for 7 days.

regards
