What Causes Rashes On Abdomen And Lumps On Chest Post Treatment For Croup?

My son was treated for croup on Monday and seemed to be doing better. No more high pitched weazing sounds, but still a cough and runny nose. We got a shot for him on Monday. Today we noticed a rash on his belly and a few small pimple like bumps on his chest, hand and the outside of his mouth. Could this be a reaction from the shot?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It could be related to the injection or it may be due to the croup.

Croup is caused by viral infection and viral infections can cause a rash, particularly in children.
The rash that goes along with viral infection is called viral exanthem.

It would normally resolve with the infection or soon after.

If the rash is related to the shot, it should resolve within a few days as well.

If you remain concerned then you can see his doctor for assessment.

I hope this helps
