My 12 year old daughter has a rash all over her body, it started on her thighs last night and has spread to her arms, face and stomach. She feels okay except for a mild itch and scratchy throat. She is taking Benadryl. She has no allergies we know of. Should I visit my doctor?
Hi. As per your case history your child is having exanthem. My treatment advice is - 1. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily. 2. Take a vitamin c supplement once daily for 30 days. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
