What Causes Rapid Weight Gain?

Have been gaining weight rapidly in last few months and feeling bloated, no matter how little I eat. I am a 68 yr old female. Feels like pressure on diaphragm much of the time. I am currently weighing about 166 and normally about 30 pounds. Could it be a thyroid issue?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you posting your query,

Before coming to a diagnosis, I would like to know a few more things related, like, do you have any associated swelling of legs, swelling in front of your neck. I would recommend you to get a thyroid function test done to know if there is any abnormality in the thyroid panel, also would be highly beneficial to take an ultrasound abdomen to rule out any intra- abdominal causes. I would suggest you to consult with a local doctor for proper local examination which is required and for any further management.

Kindly revert back to us for any further queries you may have.
Thank you
