What Causes Raised Red Blotches On The Face And Neck?

I have a patient and I am trying to figure out how to diagnose her. She was admitted last night for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection, she saw her family physician ans was started on medication for bronchitis. She is taking the following medications: Loestrin Fe 1.5/30 every day, multiple vitamins, Tylenol and Excedrin (as needed), and Zithromax.. During the night shift she was found lying in bed restless, pale and complaining of shortness of breath and itching. Vital signs: BP 84/50 temp. 101.9, P 126, Respirations 32, and O2 87%. She has slightly raised red blotches on her face and neck, which blanch when pressed lightly. Her speech is slightly slurred and she has mild swelling to her lips..

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of raised red blotches on the face and neck. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like contact dermatitis , allergic reaction, medication side effect , sensitivity to sunlight , eczema , psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis. Need not to worry. Avoid touching or pricking these rashes. I would suggest you to keep this area clean and dry , apply cold compresses on affected area to get rid from itchiness and redness and take benadryl twice a day . If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may order immunosuppressants along with corticosteroid ointment , antibiotics like clindamycin .
