Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns. As per your complain purple discoloration of thigh after felling from bike seems to be due to traumatic injury to the soft tissues leading to ruptured blood vessels and causing accumulation of blood into the soft tissues and it is the cause for bruising and there is also Hematoma formation. Pain at the site of impact is due to inflamed and injured tissues in that area.

As of now you should do alternate warm and cool compresses over the lump. Apply Heparin gel as it help in faster disintegration of the hematoma. You can apply numbing gel if there is pain. Elevate your feet while lying down. Do less exertion. In case if it worsen consult a General Surgeon and get evaluated.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks and regards,
Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora
