Last week I strained my ham string while going up/down on a ladder. It was really sore the footsteps 2days then was better each day, today I noticed large bruise, deep purple behind ( above and below the knee joint), is this something I should expect?

Hi.
As per your case history you are having traumatic purpura.
My treatment advice is -
1. Avoid trauma and irritation on affected region.
2. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily.
3. Take a vitamin c supplement once daily for 3 months.
4. Other treatment options are oral calcium dobisilate, multivitamins taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
