What Causes Puncture In Gums Post Wisdom Tooth Extraction?

I got my bottom wisdom teeth removed on January 16. The blood clot popped out last night when I was rinsing with salt water. Can I still get a dry socket after six days? It's hard to see in there, but the hole is deep and appears dark. Does dry socket pain happen gradually or immediately? I also noticed white patches on the back of my throat. Could that be related to the extraction?

Can understand your concern..

As per your complain if the blood clot is dislodged from the extraction socket it will leave an empty hole and in next 4 to 5 days there will be formation of dry socket as without the blood clot the extraction socket cannot heal and it leads to inflammation of the walls of the extraction socket along with pain.

It can happen after 6 days as dry socket develops gradually after dislodgement of blood clot.

I would suggest you to consult a dentist and get your check-up done to find out that whether the clot has completely dislodged or there is some other problem..

If it is a dislodged clot the dentist will place ZINC OXIDE EUGENOL dressing in the socket which has to be changed every alternate day and it will initiate healing and give a sedative effect to prevent pain along with antibiotics and painkillers to prevent pain and infection.

The dressing has to be get changed every alternate day.

Maintain good oral hygiene and prevent food to get impacted in the socket.

Hope your query is solved..

Thanks and regards..
