What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding After Taking Plan-B Pill?

Hi! My partner and I discovered that the condom broke and though it s been only two days after my period got over we didn t want to take chances so we resorted to plan b and I took postpone 72 within an hour. I didn t have any sort of allergic reaction but after 5 days there s a lot of bleeding. Is it normal? The bleeding is pretty much like how I have my period with some mild abdominal pain or cramps.

Plan B or Postpone 72 is an emergency contraceptive pill. It needs to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. It would prevent pregnancy by causing withdrawal bleeding within 3 weeks from its intake.
Most often bleeding would happen by a week itself. The bleeding is similar to your periods, and sometimes accompanied with abdominal cramps. The amount of bleeding may vary from one person to another.
Following this, number of days of your cycle will maintain the same as before, except for the alterations in date.
Hence, what you are experiencing can be considered as normal and nothing to worry about. You can take symptomatic treatment, if necessary.
