What Causes Prolonged Periods And Blood Clots While Taking Methergin Post Cesarean?

I had my cesarean delivery last month n having bleeding till date. initially the discharge was red which den chngd to brown color but around 13 days back it again changd to red color with heavy flow..i visited my dr last wk n she said my periods started so thats why the discharge is red N she also diagnosd blood clot in my uterus n gave methergin to clear that.its a wk now when i had methergin bt my periods are still on with lots of blood clots..periods r on since 13 days...is it oK to hv such prolongd periods???can i hv trapic mf?

Hi Can understand your concern.As per your query reason for prolonged bleeding after a cesarean delivery can be due to clots left in uterus or there can be any hormonal imbalance..I suggest you to avoid doing any heavy work or more bending and lifting heavy weight as these all leads to extra load on your uterus.Take proper rest for some days with medications prescribed by your gynaecologist.Methergin is helps in contracting uterus and controls bleeding.You should take Calcium and iron and folic acid supplements as after your surgery and prolonged bleeding considerable amount of blood has been lost.Consult your gynaecologist before taking trapic mf.I hope the information helps you.You are welcome to have any further query on HCM.Take care.
