What Causes Prolonged Heavy Bleeding Post Nuvaring Insertion?
So I ve been on the Nuvaring for about 8 months now. Last month I had a regular period, it ended and put my new ring in on day 4 of my period. I was period free for about a week and then I started bleeding again, now I m going on week 2 of bleeding and I don t know how to make it stop. I took the ring out and give myself a week break and now inserted a new one in and no change. Also, it s heavy bleeding not just spotting. -Sy
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Insertion of contraceptive devises like Nuvaring could cause certain amount of menstrual disturbances as side effect during the first few months following its insertion. However, it should get stabilized and stop from recurring by 3 to 6 months time. It appears in your case that the side effects have been continuing and is making you bothersome. In such instance, you need to get it removed and go for a suitable mode of contraception which would suit you. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
