What Causes Productive Cough With Tiredness And Upper Back Pain?

I've had a cough for over two weeks which is fairly productive. I am tired and have an upper back pain that is not releived by any pain medication. When I cough I am tasting iron. I am 45, female, have a history of cancer and low immune system (never recovered fully after radiation). I'm hoping this is just a bad cold, but wonder if I should be seeking a professional opinion at this stage.

I can understand your concern.
Since you are cancer survivor, there are two possibilities in your case.
1. Lung infection (pneumonia).
2. Lung metastases.
Cancer patients are immunocompromised. So they are prone to infection. And lung infection is common in them. Pneumonia can cause pleuritic pain and cough with expectoration.
Spread of cancer to lungs can also cause similar symptoms.
So better to get done chest x ray and CT thorax (if required) to rule out these possibilities.
So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
