What Causes Pressure On The Earlobe ?

Today while sitting at the computer my earlobe released pressure and air from it, and my hearing was clouded for a few hours. There was no popping sound. What ear condition did I experience. Almost like a balloon in my inner ear expelling air out of the earlobe. I can hear fine now. Do I need to consult my physician?

Hi Dear,
Welcome to HCM.
Understanding your concern.

The symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards condition known as ' eustachian tube dysfunction ' . Eustachian tube is a small tube balance pressure between meddle ear and oropharynx . When this tube get blocked due o upper respiratory track infection , sinusitis and post nasal drip then it gives symptoms you mention in query .

I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination , because if infection spread to surrounding like middle ear it make the condition complicated .

Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test and CT scan of face to confirm the diagnosis .

Doctor may prescribe antibiotics (anoxicillin) for at least 10 days . decongestants and mucolytic agents .

Till the keep your ear dry , give warm compresses to ear and cover it while bathing .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
