I went to the doctor today. She said I have bilirubin in my urine. I went in for swelling in my stomach area and tiredness and I have some pain in my back on the right side. She has ordered blood work up and CT scan.. I am nervous. I am worried I have hepatitis even though I don t know where I would get that.. I am scared. I had my gall bladder removed in 1996..what are the chances that the bilirubin is in anyway connected to not having a gall bladder. It was something she mentioned.
it is possible that you have recurrent stones somewhere in your biliary tree causing the obstruction, hence, the bilirubin counts. further work-up such as ultrasound, ct-scan or ERCP, along with liver function testing will probably be recommended by your doctor. an urgent follow-up is necessary if you're experiencing your symptoms frequently. management (medical and/or surgical if indications are found) will be directed accordingly.
hope this helps.
good day!!
