What Causes Pooping Out Medicines In Diabetic Patient?

a 67 year old friend of mine told me she is pooping out her medicine...it is a time released pill. Should she be concerned? Her nurse at the docs office told her it is ok, she still is getting the meds out of it. Hard to believe, she has high blood pressure and diabetic, and has crones disease.

Hi

Your friend is taking time released pills. Do note that these are enteric coated and are non absorbable ones usually. The excretion of these drugs are accentuated because of your friends irritable bowel (crohnes disease).

I would suggest you that in case if your friends blood sugar level and blood pressure are controlled well then there is no need to be concerned. In case if they are not under control ask your friend to change to normal tablets and not the time released ones.
