What Causes Polymyalgia Rheumatica?

my mother is 78 years old and has been diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica with a sed rate of over 100 and keeps rising even while on 5 mg a day of prednisone.. she has 5 root canals that are over 40 years old, could this have anything to do with her most recent diagnosis?

ESR is raised in inflamation. It is monitored in polymyalgia rheumatica to know the progression of the disease. ESR of over 100 indicates that her polymyalgia rheumatica is very severe.
the inflammation is becoming more active.
i donot think that 5 root cannals done at the age of 40 will have anything related to her diagnosis of polymyalgia rheumatica.
