What Causes Pessimistic Thoughts In A Person With Heart Disease?

A friend of mine in the last nine months is talking more about herself, her family. Never asks how I or anyone is doing. Gives orders that she expects me to do over her doing them. Anything that she talks about is always right. Put up with it for years as we always had fun but it has gotten worse. Reminds me of someone being on diet pills. Lost her husband 27 years ago and still having a hard time. I try not to talk about my husband. Does have a heart problem. I have helped her a lot with various things but that does not seem to be appreciated. Any suggestion as we are not even talking. She is also negative and will talk about others me to others and talks to me about others. All negative.

Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

I went through your details. You guessed it correct. Person with heart disease, or for that matter any life threatening disease or circumstances, go through a depressive phase in their life. Depressed people are always self centered after some time. In the initial depression stages, they could show appreciation for others, but it stops lately. They always want to be left alone and they usually become angry towards their caregivers because they want the caregiver to stay away. Not because they don't like the caregiver, because they don't want to trouble the caregiver (they think it is of no use caring them).

You are doing great. Talk to her, motivate her, be with her. I suggest these are your duties and understanding more about your friends problems, should help you regain your belief.
