Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Swollen Lymph Node In Neck?
Hi for the past few months I have had a swollen lymph node on the right side of my neck. It is oval in shape, quite firm, around 1cm maybe a little more and can be moved around with a little force. It is visible if I bend my neck. I went to my gp who recomened I get an ultrasound after a month if it hadn t shrank which it didn t. I received an ultrasound and nothing appeared wrong but again it was recommend I return if the lymph node didn t shrink in a few months. I am now nearing that time and the lump is the same. I am quite afraid. I am greatful for your help.
I have gone through your query, i will try to give you suggestion which will be helpful to you. Lymph node swelling could be reactive, or nonspecific lymphadenitis or rarely could be metastatic or primary malignancy I advise you to get fnac done,in which a needle is passed through the swelling and some material is collected on the slide and it's fixed, stained and examined by the pathologist through which exact cause of swelling can be made out This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.
I hope this suggestion might be of some help to you. I will be glad to help you in case if you have any further queries.
Wish you speedy recovery. Take care.
