What Causes Persistent Pain In Neck Despite Taking Medication?

I have had severe pain on the left side of my neck into the upper left shoulder. The pain is so bad I have restricted movement. I have had no traumatic injuries. I went to my chiropractor and have had no improvement. I tried an hour massage and No change. I have soaked in Epsom salts. Used an ice pack. Taken robax as well as Advil at the same time and I m in pain. What do you suggest? The area feels swollen and tender to the touch.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
From your description, it appears that you have tried many things for your problem for neck pain, but has not shown much improvement towards it.
It could be probably due to 'cervical spondylosis'.
Kindly get an x-ray of neck AP, Lateral and Oblique views. If required, you may need CT as well as MRI scan. Based on the findings, appropriate treatment can be suggested.
You may require wearing of cervical collar, physiotherapy and neck strengthening exercises along with appropriate analgesic medications to overcome the problem.
Kindly consult Orthopedician in this regard for appropriate management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
