What Causes Persistent Irritation In Throat?

Hi there. I am unaware of how long of I have had this, but a couple days ago I noticed a weird tickle in my throat as if something is there. It feels as if it s on the back wall of the throat, the pharyngeal wall. I noticed posterior to the tonsils, and just posterior to the tonsil arch between the connection with the back pharygeal wall and the lateral walls of my throat that I have red masses. I have heard this can be lymphoid tissue but I don t feel sick nor have I been for weeks or months. Both sides have this except one side has more pronounced and assymetrical look. I was wondering if it s possible this could be cancer ? I know it s rash to make that decision but I am worried.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to laryngopharyngeal reflux. This can give persistent throat irritation. Taking proton pump inhibitors like esomeprazole ( Nexium ) for long term like 6 weeks will be helpful for this. If no improvement then a consultation with ENT specialist and a proper examination of throat is well appreciated.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
I find this answer helpful
