What Causes Persistent Headaches Afeter Reaction To An Anesthesia?

I had a thyroidectomy last Tuesday. All went well, except i had a reaction to the anesthesia - couldn't keep anything down, so they kept me for a day longer than planned. i was released on Thursday. In addition, ever since the surgery, i have had a splitting headache. The nausea passed by Wed. evening, but the headache persists. It moves around from the base of my neck on the back of my head, to the very front of my head. is this common and is it a reaction to the anesthesia? I've take ibuprofen, but it hasn't helped. One of the nurses said it could be due to lack of caffeine in my body (i usually drink a cup of coffee a day, but stopped for the surgery.) But i have begun drinking coffee again (since Thursday AM), and it hasn't helped. Any thoughts would be welcome.

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
General anesthesia may some time induce the headache but that goes away very soon without any treatment it may be associated with vomiting too, but it does not long last, if it does then it very unlikely, it is nothing to take any thing with the caffeine, stressful condition could lengthen the headache, just take it easy, this will get alright soon, hope this answer would be helpful to you, have good day.
