Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Diarrhea Post An Appendectomy?
I had an appendectomy 4 days ago and yesterday had severe diarrhea and today have a red bloody mucus from back passage. I have read that this is likely due to the antibiotics dripped into me in hospital and taking the prescribed ones when I was released from hospital. I am more worried about the blood side of it.
It is very early to say anything about the blood satin stool. Sometimes, it may be nonspecific and it may be due to the infection itself. If the symptoms persist then it will definitely demand the medical attention, till then have complete bed rest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain
