What Causes Persistent Cough With Frequent Headache, Dizziness And Loss Of Appetite?

My son (17 years old) has had a persistent cough for the last two weeks along with frequent headaches, dizziness, loss of appetite, and low energy. We had a blood analysis performed for mono and we were told he just has a virus. Is there anything we can give him to help him get over this virus . He has never had anything last like this and he is getting pretty frustrated.
