What Causes Pepper Taste In Mouth?

Hi. Thanks. I have a hot, pepper taste in my mouth. I noticed it this morning after eating cheese and crackers. I have had lots of water, some soda, and more water. Nothing is making it go away. It honestly feels like I ate something really hot, both spicy and temperature wise. I made a chicken sandwich with avocado and tomato, not salt or pepper, yet that sensation is just as strong. Help. What is causing this?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pepper taste in the mouth which may indicate that you have taste impairment which could be related to acid reflux, vitamin B12 or zinc deficiency and it could be due to improper oral hygiene.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit ENT specialist once and get complete examination done. You should start treatment after complete examination. Do Not eat sharp and spicy food and avoid immediate lay down on bed after having food. You should go for regular exercise of 30 minutes and take plenty of fluids. Maintain hygiene by using antiseptic mouthwash. Chew on sugar free candies.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
