What Causes Pelviectasis And Subchondral Cyst On CT Abdomen In A Child?

Hi my daughter had a CT abdomen that showed that she has mild Bilateral Pelviectasis and it also shows a subchondrol cyst of the left iliac side of the SI Joint? She is only 14 years old, she does have mild scholiosis. Do I need to be concerned about these results?? Thank you, Marie

hello
thanks for writing in
gone through your complaints
you are saying scoliosis but from how long it is there not mentioned.
is it there from birth or recent onset. the CT abdomen report mentioned mild bilateral pelviectasis is nothing but pelvicalcyceal system is full commonly due to overdistended bladder.Nothing to worry.if you are stil anxious of it we can review in ultrasonogram after passing urine.most of cases it is not seen.regarding subchondral cyst of the left iliac side , so many possibilities are there. it can be unicameral bone cyst, chondroblastoma ,aneurysmal bone cyst.the scoliosis you mentioned if is of recent onset ,it can be due to subchondral cyst. if cyst is there with surrounding sclerosis it can be inflammatory, osteoid osteoma.however it needs complete evaluation.
thank u
