Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

Having a miscarriage is like a small version of giving birth. Your body needs time to recover from the pregnancy the same as a woman who is just had a baby. It can even take up to 4-6 weeks for your uterus to shrink down back to normal size and your hormones to go back to normal levels. While this is happening, you may experience cramping, backache, and pain which can radiate to other areas of your body. This is normal after recovering from pregnancy, and any type of anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen, naproxen, or paracetamol will help with the pain while your body is recovering.

I hope I was able to adequately answer your question today, and that this information is reassuring.

Best wishes,

Dr. Brown
