What Causes Peeling Of Skin From Leg After Taking Ceftriaxone And Levofloxacin?

My sister is almost 70 years old, she has a history of hypertension, hemochromatosis, and recently severe lymphedema. Her legs started leaking fluid 2 weeks ago, and a few days later she was admitted to hospital with a very high fever, her legs were very red from the knee down, and the left leg was still oozing clear fluid. Now 10 days later, after antibiotics, ceftriaxone and levofloxacin her right leg is still red, but her left leg looks as though she has been severely burned. The skin is peeling off and it looks awful, she says the pain is terrible. She is also taking Losartan for hypertension, Furosemide and Slow K. Could this condition be caused by medication as all the scans and blood test are giving normal results. What else can I ask them to check for? I have taken photographs of the difference between her legs from admittance to hospital and today. I am in Zimbabwe and we do not have credit cards to pay for your services, sorry if I wasted your time

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. If after start of medications, Steven Johnson syndrome needs evaluation.
2. Biopsy of skin along with withdrawal of medications necessary.
3. Corticosteroid treatment necessary to control further damage. More details necessary for further opinion.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
