What Causes Passing Of Sticky Stools?

my grandson is 5 weeks old his stool was very sticky and seemed to have some debri in it i suspect his mother was taking drugs during pregnancy, the baby was in intensive care for a week following delivery, but she said this was because of an infection do you think it was for drug withdrawal??
