What Causes Passing Of Loose And Greenish Stools?

My daughter is 10.5 months old and has greenish stools following a normal motion. The first stool sample I had given in a lab said E.histolytic cysts are seen mucous + and pus cells 6-8hpf. The very next day my pediatraician wanted to reconfirm of the cyst part and the test came out negative with pus cells 3-5hpf. And sent us back saying she is fine. I gave a third sample again on the following day and the results came out negative again with pus cells 4-6hpf. Stool samples given three continous days. The baby is otherwise normal eating well drinking well playing around. not much of a behavioural change. Am confused of what I should do. Should I just give it time ? By the way she did a small amount of loose stools for about two days which subsided on its own. She no more has loose stools except for a semi-solid green thing that comes after a normal poop just once a day. Please let me know your suggestions.

Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic.

It seems your kid is having viral diarrhoea. Once it starts it will take 5-7 days to completely get better. Unless the kid's having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or blood in motion or green bilious vomiting...you need not worry.

At this juncture the kid is getting better and is recovering well. You need not do anything now. But if diarrhoea or vomiting continues -
I suggest you use zinc supplements (Z&D drops 1ml once daily for 14 days) & ORS (Each small packet mixed in 200ml of potable water and keep giving sip by sip) as hydration is very important and crucial part of treatment. If there is vomiting you can use Syrup Ondansetron as prescribed by your paediatrician.

Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.
