What Causes Passing Dark Stool Despite Taking Pepto-Bismol?

Why are my BMs still blackish green and stink? Four days ago I became ill with 101.5 temp vomiting and diarrhea. Day two was without the nausea but with fever of 101 and diarrhea. Yesterday with Pepto-Bismol the cramps ended and the fever was gone. Today I feel light headed, 4 Lbs lighter and BP lower than normal, but good enough to feel mostly recovered. Why are my BMs still blackish green and stink?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The brown color of stool is due to changes in the bile as it passes through the intestinal tract.

When there is an increase in the stool frequency then the bile is not able to changes as it normally would and the stool can have a greenish tint.
Pepto bismol causes dark stool so would contribute to that problem.

The odor would be the result of the infection that caused the diarrhea but would resolve as all of your symptoms resolve

I hope this helps
