What Causes Palpitations In Patients With Thyroid?

Hi,I was diagnosed with under active thyroid one month ago by my family doctor. I started levothyroxin 75, and I am supposed to be tested in 2 weeks. at the beginning I had headaches. they are gone now. last few nights I am having palpitations. Are these going to go away or I need to call my doctor? do I need to see an endocrinologist or I am on the right path?

Thanks for using healthcaremagic.I understand your concern.
Brief answer: Increased hormone supplement dose, caffeine, certain drugs like amphetamines.
Detailed answer: If i were your physician, would have initially prescribed the drug (preferably with low dose) based on your lean body mass and thyroid profile report.I would advise you to discuss this with your treating doctor(preferably an endocrinologist) if you are frequently experiencing palpitations regarding drug dose change if needed.Hope this information helps you.If any further questions, happy to answer you.
